%26quot;Display:
(Multiple Monitors) on S3 Graphics TwisterK HP%26quot;
but wont let me enable the secondary, or anything really related to configuring the secondary as far as i can tell...
...any ideas?
How do i change my external monitor from cloning the primary to acting as a secondary display (on a laptop)?
Click on Control Panel then Display then Settings. You should see two virtual monitors labeled 1 and 2. Click on 2 and then click on %26quot;Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor%26quot;. This option will be located right above Identify, Troubleshoot, and Advanced. Now minimize any program you have up and drag it onto the 2nd monitor.

Make sure you connect your external monitor to your laptop and power it on before you power up your laptop, that will let Windows XP recognize the external monitor. Now, when you go to Display Properties-%26gt;Settings, you should see your external monitor and can set it to its native resolution (for a sharp picture). Be sure you select extending your display to the 2nd monitor.
BTW, you can drag the icon for your 2nd monitor to either the left or the right, and that will use your external to extend from the left or the right of your laptop display.
