How can a USB port be changed to USB 2.0?

I purchased a card reader for photo's. It can with reader, USB cable and a small CD for, I guess the driver. It doesn't run. I am using Win 98SE. Is it possible to convert the current port(s) to USB 2.0.

Thanks for your help.
How can a USB port be changed to USB 2.0?
You can't %26quot;Convert%26quot; them to USB 2.0 If you really want USB 2.0, looks like you will need to buy a USB 2.0 card for your computer. Your local Electronics store like Best Buy, CompUSA or even Walmart will most likely carry those.

But even then, I'm not sure Win98SE supports USB2.0

All USB 2.0 give you is a good speed boost, nothing else.
How can a USB port be changed to USB 2.0?
No you will need to actually purchase a whole new motherboard.
No, USB 2.0 is the newest type of USB/USB Port that鈥檚 out for computers.
For Windows XP you dont need to install Drivers for USB

but

In windows 98 you have to install driver for USB,

you can download it from www.microsoft.com, also

other wise search for USB Driver Windows 98 in google

and you will probably get the drivers

but you cannot change a normal USB1.0 to USB 2.0

a normal USB1.0 and USB 2.0 are two different kind of hardware---ok

Hope that satisfies your Question...

you will need to get a pci card that has the USB 2 ports on it.

There is no converting.
It requires new hardware. You typically cannot upgrade the existing hardware.

You can buy the card for about $40 at staples, and their techs can install it for about another $40. That's your best price, and usb 2.0 is used for most devices now, so it is a worthy investment.

Front USB ports can sometimes be upgraded, but it still requires the new hardware. Ask the tech.
