Why does my webcam freezes when it used to work fine on YIM?

I use my web cam on a daily basis with my gfriend. Shes on dial up, and im on DSL. It used to work fine, only freezing every now and then because of the dial up connection. But a few weeks ago, my webcam started to only works for a minute before it freezes, then after around 2 minutes my webcam unfreezes and she start getting images that where supposedly sent at least one minute ago (meaning, lots of lag).

Since the problem started, ive re installed my webcam, re installed yahoo messenger, changed usb port but the trouble persists. Her webcam works perfect, the only one with the problem is mine.

I also use the webcam to talk with my sister, but i use it on Skype and i have no problems there. Both my sister and me have broadband.

So, any ideas why is this happening? and more importantly, how to fix it?

There are a couple things to try, First run scandisk on your computer the version of windows helps I assume xp, go to my computer right click on your c: drive and click on properties it brings up a tabbed box click on tools and scan now , unfortunately you have to reboot for it to work.



once you have tried that check your preferences under superwebcam when your chatting to your girl select the keep broadcasting in standard mode and see if that helps , often times yahoo is checkin for super mode and it freezes your cam till it decides what it should do, rather sux actually

I'm not sure why as mine does that too, but only on YIM, not WIM. Sometimes it happens if we start playing with our avatars while IM'ng. I wish I knew how to fix it.

Windows firewall might have blocked it. To enable it to get through:

I have a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 that will not work with Yahoo Messenger. The errors I am receiving are “the webcam does not support the required image size and sorry no webcam was found on your system.” I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, changing the registry, changing the version of Yahoo Messenger, updating the drivers, changing USB ports. I have tried everything and the webcam will not work with Yahoo Messenger; but I can use it with MSN Messenger. My operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition. Well i use a logitech web cam with xp and it works great.So i guess it's the way you have set it up.Have you gone in every area and set all the settings? Broadcasting,max speed range,always use small picture ,only use large when needed.Check in webcam settings in messenger,preferences,web cam settings.I had to go round my firewall to stop it from freezing up.Suggestion and i mean i use it too.Enter messenger,click on help,then messenger help.It give loads of info on the cam and useful to.It will tell you word for word what is wrong.Check it out.
You know I had the problem with Logitech fusion. It worked at first than stopped working. Seems that a codec driver (I forgot which company), was being updated cuz logitech was using another companys codec driver. They were changing to the windows codec driver. I found out also that the company was now charging $30 to update to their driver and is probably why Logitech switched to the free windows codec driver. Call logitech up and ask them. My fusion works now. If you can buy another cam, buy the logitech cam, that has the one that you can project pictures of yourself on them. If you can still return the cam and get the money back on you cam if it is still possible. If you can or decide to get another cam, remember only a few logitech cams have this ability to project pics on the cam. Check the logitech site to find out.
i have that exact same camera and mine works fine...try and see if there has been an updated version of the software put out,go to the logitech site and check

It's probably the USB connector that isn't working. Are any of the prongs bent or broke off? It could be that it isn't connecting properly. If so, is there an Apple store in your area? (there's one by where I live in the woodfield mall) You could speak to someone at the store and see what they say. You could probably buy a new connector. If not, try buying one from the online store. Also, try looking at electronic stores, like Best Buy, or even Target or Walmart.

Have you pushed the connector in all the way into the computer? Maybe it isn't reading because it isn't in all the way.

Try going onto apple.com or the links below and read the support section.

How do I change a 1.1 usb port to a 2.0 usb port on a Mac computer?

I bought a ipod shuffle for my mother and a long time ago and i bought a cheap Mac computer for her ( she only uses the internet and plays cards) a while back. Whenever I sat down to show her how to download her music to the shuffle there was a warning that the port was 1.1. Now when the music plays on the ipod its all weird out and before i return it I'd like to make sure its not the slow transfer that messing up the music. If its something easy you can change in the inside and the price is remarkable lower than the external way then that would be nice. Info on what to buy if i want to do it an external way too. Im just confused as to what device Im looking for to buy so links please so I can see the product and read about it. The make is g3 like 333 hz.. or something like that but im positive its 10.3 os bc i just bought an upgrade for her after i accidentaliy did something wonky on it and restored the puter back to the stone ages.

I would first try to reset the iPod. Instructions are here:

There are other troubleshooting steps there that you can try.



There is also a reset utility you can run that will update the software in the shuffle, but it erases the iPod so you will have to reload it. If all the music on her iPod plays weird, that's what I would do. If it's only certain songs, I would reload those first and see if it helps.



The only way to add a USB 2 port to a G3 is via a PCI card that you can buy. The new ports will be on the back of the computer. If you go this route, do some research to see that the card you're buying works for your computer, OS and for iPod transfers. Some don't.

( motherboard). A USB hub might work, but it will still work at the status / speeds of the USB 1.1 which is onboard the computer.
You cannot change 1.1 to 2.0 usb even with the hub, but u can buy usb2.0 card and put it in one of the open slots in ur computer, they r quite cheap, u can buy it for less than $15, the cards come with 2/4/6/8 ports, take ur pick. Its very easy

My husband is in the Navy and we are getting ready to move to San Diego where he is stationed on the USS Nimitz and apparently the carrier will be undergoing a home port change at the end of the year.. We are looking for an apartment now but are unsure of how long to get the lease for and what my husband and I have learned is that the Navy's time line tends to be a guesstimate so we don't really know how many months to lease an apartment for.. Now I know that there is a military housing clause but does it have to be written in the lease? Do you have to pay the fees in order to break the lease if you use the military housing clause? Regardless, you need to be upfront about your situation and consult your on-base military housing office for help. They should be able to really hold your hand and make sure that your landlord understands the situation and won't hassle you when you have to transfer.

they have some rule that they can't hold you responsible if the government sends you off. I had to provide a copy of my orders and they had no problem. it doesn't matter how long you have been there or how much is left on your lease. all money is fully refundable.
Ask any potential landlord for a Month to Month lease. That clause applies to your husband and not you.
