ive a dating website which should contact members when they receive messages/winks but keep getting my email box flooded with email sending failings. My website host says the problem is i need to change the port number. Where do i find the port number and how do i change it. Am quite a novice to this so a fairly detailed reply would be very helpful

You need to be way more detailed in your question. What are you using to send out the emails? What does your site run? Ask them for some more specific help or change provider to one that can assist you properly. for your internet, instead of using a usb to connect it, use an ethernet cable (it is usually blue and looks like a fatter phone cord) then use that available usb port. or, buy a usb hub, either inside the computer or an external hub. you can usually get one that will provide you with 4 usb for under $20.

How can I change the COM port number so that it is using COM4 instead of COM6. PC won't recognize Printer via Parallel Port?

Does anyone know how to configure the HP 4550n to work direct from a PC parallel printer port?





I have a HP 4550n color laser printer (C7086A) with a JetDirect 610n (J4169A) network/print server installed. The printer had it%26#039;s own IP address and was working fine for years through a D-link 707P router until the router died. I connected the printer direct to my PC using the original HP parallel cable (C29460) and changed the port to LPT1. I can not get the PC (HP Pavilion w/Windows XP Home Edition) to recognize the printer. I%26#039;ve tried reinstalling the printer with the original installation disk, reinstalling the printer with “add a printer” (with and without auto-detect feature), tried “add new hardware”, updating the driver, changing ports, disabling the high-speed parallel interface, cold reset, tried another cable (HP #8120-8668), tried removing the network card and then rebooting the printer in hopes it would default to the parallel port, but nothing works.





I know the parallel port on my PC and the cable is working because I can print to my HP 3100, however the 3100 is host based and uses it’s own port created by the software and does not use LPT1. Is there anyone out there with advanced knowledge that could give detailed suggestions on troubleshooting this either from the PC or the printer control panel?





I am not a newbie by any means, but this one has me stumped.





Thank you in advance!|||If you are comfortable accessing your PC bios, then check your %26quot;I/O Device Configuration%26quot;. I believe your choices are (ECP, EPP, SPP, Bi-Directional). Change to %26quot;Bi-Directional first, and if that does not work, try SPP.

I just bought 3 copies of vnc enterprise for my home computes and i want to connect to them from work. My work has the viewer installed and my home has the server installed. I would like step by step instructions on how to do this. I use it at home localy great but was wondering if i had to change ports or configure it on my router or what.?.|||Gee, I hope you did not spend too much. The VNC system software is open source and available to all for free, TightVNC and UltraVNC are both excellent VNC programs and are can be downloaded from the web.





As far as connecting to your home machines.


Here are 2 ways to do it





1 - the easy way


Go on the web and create an account on one of the free remote control web sites. I use Logmein.com Creating an account is free


On each of your home computers, do the following


Go to the account you created and add the computer to the account. Use the free version of the software


Follow the prompts and install the software on each machine.


Now from your office computer, go to the web, open your account, select the computer you want and log in


Because the software you installed on each computer keeps the web site updated, and the authorization come from the machine, you do not have to worry about IP addresses, VPN Tunnels, routers or firewalls


The connection is encrypted and secured, making this the best way to work over the web





2 - If you really want to use VNC


You said have the viewer set up on your office machine and the server set up on the home machines.


Set up remote administration on your router


Now set up port forwarding on your router so that you forward a unique port to each home machine.


Get the Internet IP address that your ISP has assigned to you.


When you need to contact a machine at home, enter the IP address of the router, and the remote administration port (Format is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxx as in 64.10.120.255:2120) and use remote administration to enable the port forwarding entry that you need


Have your VNC viewer contact the server on the machine using the correct port


Be sure to close all ports when you are done


Because the ISP changes your IP address from time to time, you will need to keep track of the routers IP address. This is why I recommend the web based system
